Not medical advice
Nothing on this site diagnoses, treats or cures any condition. For a medical concern, see a qualified healthcare professional; in an emergency, call 112.
Educational Information
The pages of lemuriavawo.org — in particular those on Varma therapy and the varmam points — describe a traditional Tamil practice and what its texts and teachers hold. They are educational. They are not medical advice, and they do not claim that Varma therapy or any other practice described here diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any condition.
Not a Substitute for Medical Care
Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional about any medical condition, symptom or injury, and before starting any new physical training or manual therapy. Do not delay or disregard professional advice because of something you have read on this site.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number (112 in India) or go to the nearest hospital. Varma sessions are never a response to an emergency.
Traditional Varma Sessions
Varma sessions offered through this site are a traditional wellness practice carried out by practitioners of the lineage. Individual experiences vary, and no outcome is promised. Speak to your doctor first if you are pregnant, have had recent surgery or a fracture, take blood-thinning medication, have osteoporosis or a heart condition, or have any symptom that has not been diagnosed.
Tell the practitioner at once if anything during a session is uncomfortable. You may stop a session at any time.
The Varmam Points
The tradition regards the varmam points — especially the padu points — as dangerous when mishandled. Nothing on this site is instruction for self-treatment, or for pressing or striking varmam on anyone. Diagrams and the 3D explorer are references to the tradition, not training material.
Martial Arts Training
- Martial arts training is physical and carries a risk of injury. Train only under a qualified instructor.
- Tell your instructor about any injury, health condition or medication before you train.
- Do not practise partner techniques, weapons or varmam from videos or pages without supervision.
- Children train only with a parent or guardian's consent and under supervision suited to their age.
Heritage Content
Pages on Lemuria, Kumari Kandam and the history of the lineage present tradition as tradition. Where a source is a legend rather than historical or scientific evidence, we say so, and readers should not treat it as established fact.
